Domestic Leagues Committee (DLC) holds Strategic Planning meeting

The Domestic Leagues Committee (DLC) held a strategic planning meeting on April 30, 2024, at the Headquarters of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Led by Chairman, Dr. Tony Aubynn, the 10-member committee deliberated on a wide range of issues including a general assessment and overview of the various competitions under the umbrella of the FA.

The committee also analyzed the ongoing 2023-24 Football Season across the various leagues, and deliberated on policies and action plans for the remainder of the season. It went further to commence planning towards the 2024-25 football season.

General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo Esq,  highlighted the pivotal role of the Domestic Leagues Committee and admonished the committee to work towards building synergy amongst activities relating to the Ghana Premier League, Malta Guinness Women's Premier League and the Access Bank Division One League.

He also charged the Committee to work closely with the relevant GFA bodies to ensure smooth running of their activities, pledging the Association's unwavering support to the Committee to make their work a resounding success.

Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Anthony (Tony) Aubynn underscored the vital role of the committee, pledging to work assiduously to discharge their mandate with professional focus and diligence.

"The future of our football rests on the quality of our leagues, GPL, WPL and DOL. I have no doubt that it is only when our leagues assume a qualitative upturn that we can say we have hit the highways of local talent development for our national teams. This places an enormous task on the shoulders of our novel Committee. This is a charge for all of us and I have no doubt that we will prove capable of delivering much improved leagues that are beautiful, enjoyable and of high integrity." Dr Aubynn told ghanafa.org.

Domestic Leagues Committee deputies, Mr. George Gyawu and Mrs. Hilary Boateng, were in attendance as well as former Ghana international Sam Johnson.

ASP Yakubu Asamani, Cleopatra Nketia, Alphonse Cudjoe and Fiifi Tackie, who are all members of the Committee also attended and participated in the deliberations.

The working group of the GFA were also heavily represented with General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo leading the team.

Deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration, Ama Brobey Williams, Referees Manager, Alex Kotey, Director of Competitions, Julius Ben Emunah, Samira Ghartey, Barbara Yankah, Maxwell Caeser and Matilda Dimedo from the Communications Department also attended the meeting.
