GPL WEEK 10 REVIEW: WAFA THUMP ASHGOLD TO MOVE UP, MEDEAMA BREAK KOTOKO JINX

WAFA have moved to the top of the Premier League table after thrashing Ashantigold 3:0 in Sogakope.

The Academy boys continued with their remarkable campaign in the league with the easy win, which has compounded the woes of the Miners. Prince Obeng Ampim, Daniel Lomotey and Gedeon Waja got the goals for WAFA for the win which leaves them two points clear at the top.

In Tarkwa, Medeama SC defeated Asante Kotoko 2:1 to end their winless home run against Kotoko in the Premier League.

Medeama's poor run against Kotoko appeared to continue after Ahmed Adams gave Kotoko a first half lead, but the home side fought back from the goal down to win the match with two late brace by Paul Aidoo.

Aidoo equalised in the 76th minute and sealed the historic winner four minutes from time. The defeat is another blow to Kotoko's title charge as they have now slipped down to third, after picking up only a point out of a possible nine.

Second-placed Aduana Stars also failed to win, drawing 1:1 with Liberty Professionals in Dansoman. Samuel Sarfo opened the scoring for Liberty Professionals but Bright rescued a point for Aduana Stars with a late equaliser.

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways in Accra with a 4:2 win over Bechem United. The Phobians took a comfortable 3:0 first-half lead, with an own goal from Eric Owusu Gyamfi, Richard Akrofi and Fatawu Mohammed. But Bechem gave Hearts a second half scare, scoring two goals through Nana Antwi and Abdul Bashiru.
However, Cosmos Dauda calmed nerves and sealed the win for the Phobians with a late goal to give Hearts a 4:2 win.

Bolga All Stars defeated fellow Premier League debutants Elmina Sharks by a lone goal, with Emmanuel Permadu scoring the only goal of the match. But All Stars still remain bottom of the table.

Ebusua Dwarfs and Tema Youth settled for a 1:1 draw in Cape Coast. Joseph Paintsil gave the visitors a first half lead, but Premier League top leading scorer, Nicholas Gyan scored his seventh goal of the season to equalised for Dwarfs.

At the El Wak Stadium in Accra, Inter Allies and Berekum Chelsea also settled for a 1:1 draw. Stephen Sarfo gave Chelsea the lead and Isaac Osam equalised for Inter Allies.
