Ghana's Black Queens on Friday beat South Africa 1-0 in their third place contest at the Africa Women's Championship (AWC) in Cameroun.
A 48th minute header from defender Linda Eshun gave the Queens the win over a tough Bayana Bayana side.
After a goalless first half, both teams resumed tge second half with more urgency but it was the Queens who got the advantage as they earned two quick corners in succession with the second one resulting in the goal which would eventually be the difference between the two sides.
With the two sides meeting many times, this clash again played out the fierce rivalry between them, and it was the more experienced Queens defence that showed class against a fanciful but inexperienced Bayana attack.
After conceding the goal, they did their best to equalise, but were denied several times by the Queens' defence.
