Coach Kwesi Appiah kicked off his second coming as Ghana Coach on a remarkable note after the Black Stars thrashed Ethiopia 5:0 in the opening match of the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Kumasi.
The returnee coach sprung up a huge surprise by handing three debutants; Lumor Agbenyenu, Thomas Agyepong and Rahpael Dwamena, who had a dream debut, starting line ups.
And the youngsters impressed in a team, which gave the coach and the highly expectant crowd instant reward in an impressive first half, which saw the visitors thumped 3:0.
Skipper Asamoah Gyan opened the scoring in the 10th minute after an Ethiopian defender deflected his header past his own goalkeeper.
Four minutes later, defender John Boye doubled the lead by powerfully connecting from close range before Ebenezer Ofori made it 3:0 five minutes from recess with a fantastic screamer.
The Black Stars returned from the break with verve, starting just as they hand ended the first half. Debutant Raphael Dwamena capped a good performance with a goal by reacting quickest in the six yard to tap in a rebound from Andre Ayew's effort.
Dwamena got his second of the afternoon in the 59th minute, tapping in again from close range to seal an emphatic victory for Ghana.
The Black Stars are joint top of Group F with Sierra Leone after the opening round of matches. The Sierra Leonians defeated Kenya 2:1 on Saturday in the group's other match on Saturday.
