Emmanuel Baffour could not help New Edubiase to a top four finish in the Glo Premier League but he will certainly be looking at winning the season's player of year award.
The striker is in the running for the flagship prize, the Most Valuable Player gong when the end of season awards are handed out on Saturday at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi.
Baffour faces competition from Asante Kotoko's Daniel Nii Adjei and Emmanuel Clottey of Berekum Chelsea for the MVP prize.
But he will go unchallenged as his 21-goal haul which kept him tops of the goal chart after the 2011-12 season will see him pick the Goal King gong.
Though one goal shy of the 11-year record [22 goals] set by Ishmael Addo in the 2000/2001 season, Baffour, 23, will be celebrating an impressive season on the night.
There will be other contenders for this year's Glo Premier League awards which has 12 categories in all.
After guiding Asante Kotoko to the title, Maxwell Konadu appears in front of the queue for the Best Coach award which also has Bashir Hayford and Yaw Acheampong as competitors.
And in a season where referees performances have continuously been reviewed, the knights of the whistle are also in the running for prizes.
William Agbovi, John Atikese and Theresa Bremansu are competing for the Best Referee whilst Dawood Quedraogo, David Laryea and A. S Malik also await the decision on the Best Assistant Referee.
