Okwawu United secured a crucial 1-0 victory over New Edubiase United in their opening match of the 2024 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup, placing them at the top of Group A.

The match, held at the Nana Konamansah Park, saw both teams display strong performances, with Okwawu United emerging victorious thanks to a decisive penalty.

Kojo Zimbo scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, giving Okwawu United the lead. The crucial moment came when New Edubiase United were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute after Obed Asamoah was fouled in the box.

However, New Edubiase's captain, Samed Ibrahim, saw his spot-kick saved by Okwawu United's goalkeeper, Maxwell Adom, preserving the narrow lead for Okwawu United.

The victory puts Okwawu United at the top of Group A after Match Day 1, as they look forward to continuing their strong start in the tournament.

The win not only boosts their confidence but also places them in a favourable position as they aim to advance to the next stage of the competition.
