Dominic Adiyiah insisted he never stopped believing that he was going to score when Ghana played Lesotho in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The Ghana striker produced a good performance in a long while for the national team in their 7-0 thrashing of Lesotho at the Baba Yara Stadium as he grabbed a brace.

Nine minutes after Ghana's opener by captain Sulley Muntari in the 15th minute, Adiyiah, who had been in danger of being criticized for his near misses in front of goal followed up with the second goal and scored again after the interval.

However, he says he never lost faith his hard work would pay off.

“You shouldn’t give up as a striker,” said Adiyiah as he relished scoring twice after a number of near misses.

“You have to keep the concentration high. You can miss numerous chances but you have to try to score. I missed the first time but tried and scored.”

The brace was the Ghana striker's first competitive goals for the Black Stars and he hopes it will spur them on when they take on Zambia in the next World Cup qualifier.

“It is a good moment for us and I hope we continue to Zambia,” Adiyiah said.
