Albert Adomah feels honoured to have made Ghana's team for the Africa Cup of Nations and is also buzzing with his jersey number, the 10 shirt.

The Bristol City player was included in Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah's 23-man squad for this month's finals.

“This is going to be my first major tournament – Africa Nations and it is a privilege to play for your motherland, it is just unbelievable, actually speechless,” Adomah told local radio, Citi FM after the final squad with its numbers was released on Wednesday.

“I am so happy that I am part of the 23 man squad.”

Adomah, who will be wearing the number 10 shirt is determined to make an impact.

“Obviously, it’s a major tournament and this is my first major tournament and I am actually looking forward to it, I am just delighted.”

Despite that fact that the shirt number comes with some expectation for those obsessed with numbers in football, he believes a player's contribution is the most important ingredient required.

“What I can say is it is just a privilege to play for your country where your mum and dad come from," he said.

“But it really doesn’t matter about number, it is about what you can do on the pitch like Asamoah Gyan wears no.3 but he is not a defender.

“So I look at it as no pressure, it is just a number but at the same time I know great players have worn that number which is a privilege to wear that no. 10 without doubt."

Adomah will be making his tournament debut when Ghana begins the campaign in Group B where the Black Stars will face DR Congo, Mali and Niger.
