Berekum Chelsea's bright start to the week turned all gloomy on Thursday at the Agyemang Badu Park where they were beaten 3-0 by Aduana Stars in their Glo Premier League.

The champions returned from an impressive CAF Champions League away win in Liberia only for Cioaba Aristica's side to deflate their hopes in their outstanding match-day-16 fixture.

Chelsea are now seven points off the summit of the league as they plan for their match on the derby this weekend against bottom side, Berekum Arsenal.

After just four minutes into the start of the game, Chelsea were unsettled when Richard Arhin scored the opener for the home side.

The game turned into a physical contest as Aduana had Seth Opare and Daniel Darkwah booked before the 39th minute to end the first half.

Chelsea returned from the recess hoping the introduction of strike Emmanuel Clottey could change the scoreline of the game but two minutes into the start and Samuel Asiedu gave Aduana a 2-0 lead.

It turned worse for Chelsea following the 57th minute dismissal of Kissi Boateng for violent conduct.

And eight minutes later, Aduana completely put the game beyond Chelsea when Emmanuel Allan slotted in the third goal to cap a great performance.

The defeat left Hans Van Der Plyum facing more questions about their focus for the season as they combine the continental competition with the domestic competitions.
