Afful gets Ghana starting role

Claude Le Roy has handed Harrison Afful a starting place in the Ghana team for this evening’s friendly against Mexico.

Ghana plays Mexico at the Craven Cottage in London, a game which is the first for he Black Stars since winning bronze at the 2008 Africa Nations Cup.

The Asante Kotoko full back, who played a late cameo role during Ghana’s bronze winning game at the Africa Nations Cup starts in defence on his first starting game for the Black Stars.

Laryea Kingston starts in midfield together with Michael Essien, Anthony Annan and Sulley Muntari.

Haminu Draman and Junior Agogo lead the attack for Ghana.

Ghana will use the game as one the preparatory matches toward the 2010 World Cup and African Nations qualifiers which begins later in June.
