
President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, on Thursday, April 11, 2025, met with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the officials for the Focal Point function areas, to discuss preparations for the upcoming Africa Schools Football Championship (ASFC) in Accra.
The LOC, chaired by GFA Executive Council member Gideon Fosu, briefed the President on operational areas, including:
- Logistics: Ensuring smooth execution of the tournament
- Security: Safeguarding players, officials, and spectators
- Tournament Venue: University of Ghana Stadium, Accra
- Hospitality: Accommodating teams and officials
- Communications: Promotion of the Championship
- Broadcasting: Televising the championship
- Marketing: Building a strong brand feel for the event
The President charged the LOC and Focal Points to deliver an event that brings honour to the GFA and Ghana.
Interestingly, the championship coincides with the maiden meeting of the newly elected Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), set for April 26, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.
The meeting will discuss African football development, governance, and elect new Vice-Presidents.
The ASFC, scheduled for April 21-26, 2025, will feature teams from a total of 12 countries whose Ambassadors to Ghana will be in attendance to support their school children.
