Mary Awuah Boateng’s 64th minute goal earned Soccer Intellectuals a 1-0 win over rivals Essiam Socrates in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. The much anticipated game, lived up to the billing with an amazing display of football from both ends. The first half ended goalless but Mary Awuah Boateng connected from a throw-in to put the host in front. Essiam Socrates created a few decent chances in search of the equalizer but their efforts came to naught as the host held on for the three points. The win is a huge boost for Soccer Intellectuals' relegation fight as Socrates drops to the bottom half of the table.
In another thrilling encounter, Police Ladies secured a 2-0 win over Faith Ladies. Lydia Arthur gave Police Ladies a well-deserved lead in the 20th minute following a dominant opening to the game. Jamila Abdul Rahman added to the tally in the 89th minute to seal victory for Police Ladies. The win sees Police Ladies move into the top five while Faith Ladies’ continue to struggle after suffering two defeats on the spin.
Hasaacas Ladies scored a penalty in the 60th minute through Mukarama Abdulai. The forward calmly converted the spot kick to put her side ahead. But her goal was canceled ten minutes later as Army Ladies were also awarded a penalty in the 70th minute to level matters. Hasaacas Ladies are atop the table in the Southern Zone with 31 points.
