The Ghana Football Association, on Friday, 9th August, 2024, received high praise and recognition from the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) at the Battle Training Camp at Bundase, during the UNIFIL GH 91 END OF PRE-DEPLOYMENT TRAINING PARADE & WASA.
The recognition was received, on behalf of the FA, by the Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Madam Winifred Mawudeku.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the Commander of the APOTS said, the Training School is grateful to the Ghana Football Association and the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence for housing Senior Officers at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram for the past 3 years.
The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence has been the home for Senior Officers of the APOTS since October 2021.
Among the Guests who graced the occasion were the General Officer Commanding - Southern Command, Brigadier General S. Y. Asare, Commander - Army Training Command, Brigadier General S. W. K. Parbey, Commander - Army Peace Operations Training School - Colonel C. K. Dingane and other Senior Army Officers.
The GFA's commitment to national causes has been evident through its support of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ministry of Health in times of need.
Providing accommodation for Officers of the APOTS at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram has greatly benefited the military personnel, offering them a conducive environment for their duties while highlighting the GFA’s dedication to national service.
The GFA’s contributions were also highlighted during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. At a time when the country was grappling with the unprecedented health crisis, the GFA once again stepped up by offering the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence to the Ministry of Health for use as a COVID-19 treatment center. This generous act provided crucial support to the nation’s healthcare system when resources were greatly stretched.
The commendation by the APOTS leadership reflects the broader impact of the GFA’s work, demonstrating that while the organization’s primary focus is football, its commitment to the welfare of the nation extends far beyond the pitch.
The association’s readiness to offer its facilities and resources for national causes underscores its role as a key stakeholder in the country's progress, contributing to both public health and national security.
