Kwadwo Asamoah reckons Ghana can reach summit of the African Nations Cup after progressing to the quarter-finals.

Ghana earned a place in the final eight of the competition alongside Ivory Coast after Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in Group B.

The Black Stars managed to salvage their campaign in a rather difficult group which had been reduced to three teams due to the withdrawal of Togo.

While an opening 3-1 loss to Ivory Coast capped a slow start to the campaign, Ghana were left with one last opportunity to keep their campaign going with a win needed against Burkina Faso to ensure qualification.

However, Ghana earned their spurs with their reward being a last eight date with hosts Angola at Luanda's 11 November Stadium on Sunday.

After being widely written off, Asamoah believes that the team now have a golden opportunity to underline their credentials as they bid to reach the finals.

"We are beginning to find our feet and pattern. Between now and our next game, we will improve and keep our focus of playing in the final," Asamoah said.

"Initially it was difficult for us to get the right connection but now we are okay and we have to do more and surprise the world.

"We have a young team but no team can write us off because we have good players in camp."
