Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has hailed the improvement Solomon Asante after the midfielder made his Black Stars debut in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.
The Berekum Chelsea player was a second half substitute as Ghana beat Malawi 2-0 last Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Asante, whose hopes of a Ghana chance was curtailed back in August this year after the Ghana Football Association sought to confirm his nationality status, finally had the opportunity to make his appearance.
"We invited him for the Lesotho game but we left him out because we heard he had played for Burkina Faso in a friendly and we wanted to be sure about that so we contacted the Burkina Federation and they have sent a letter confirming that it was just a friendly game he played," Kwesi Appiah explained.
"And according to the Fifa law, if it’s a friendly game, it doesn’t actually matter."
But his skill was enough to persuade Appiah to pitch him straight into the team once the matter had been resolved.
"He deserves to be in the team now, looking at the way he is playing at the moment," the Black Stars coach added.
With a cap to his name, Asante, could make it a second when Ghana plays Liberia on Tuesday in an international friendly.
