League leaders Ashantigold had to fight back to earn a point in their First Capital Plus Premier League Match day 28 game against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Saturday.
The table toppers who were the away side on the day got an early lead after striker Mohammed Yakubu scored from the penalty spot 8 minutes into the game.
Chelsea’s top scorer however equalized for his side in the 35th minute and took his personal goal tally to 15, three behind the League’s top scorer Nathaniel Asamoah.
After the first half ended in a stalemate, Chelsea returned into the second with a determination to grab a win and appease their home fans.
And Substitute Latif Salifu’s 66th minute goal gave them the lead before Emmanuel Osei converted another penalty to take the game back on level terms.
With a point from the game, Ashantigold now have 49 points while Chelsea are now third on the league table with 41 points.
Second placed Aduana will have an opportunity to close the 4-point gap between them and the league leaders when they go away as guests of Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday.
