AshGold have returned to the top of the First Capital Plus Premier League table after beating Bechem United 2-1 at the Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday.
Mumuni Shafiu gave the home side the lead in the first half when he converted from the spot in the 39th minute.
Bechem United however fought back in the second half and were awarded a penalty on the hour mark which was converted by Noah Martey to restore parity.
AshGold, who lost their lead on the League table last weekend, quickly restored their lead in the 64th minute through Benard Morrision.
The goal took Morrison’s personal tally to 3 so far this season and also sent his team 2 points clear of second placed Aduana.
At the Wa Park, there were no changes in the third and fourth positions on the League table as Asante Kotoko and Wa Allstars played out a goalless draw in their Match day 5 game.
Without some key players, the Porcupine Warriors were determined to record a positive result as they prepare to take on their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak this weekend.
But Allstars once again proved to be very resilient at home as they held Kotoko to a 0-0 draw to maintain their position in the top four.
