New Edubiase will be without key man, Emmanuel Baffour with the league's top scorer sitting out of Saturday's home game against Medeama.
Baffour, who has scored 11 times this season in 12 games for the Bekwai-side will be heading off for a pre-African Nations Cup duty with Ghana tomorrow.
And though he is set to miss three matches before the first round ends on January 15, he is hopeful of maintaining his lead on the scorer's chart by the time he returns from national duty.
"I am happy to be in the lead before my departure. I would have loved to have signed off with maybe a goal but that is not possible. But I am happy with the opportunity to compete for a place in the Black Stars," Baffour told www.ghanafa.org on Friday.
"However, I think the other players [at Edubiase] can get the three points."
The 22-year-old striker will be heading off to South Africa for a pre-competition camp with Ghana tonight and is excited with the chance to prove himself.
"I am very happy [with this chance]. Many players dream of this moment. But I have to make the best out of it," he said.
"The Black Stars is a big team and all the players would be playing for their places. I hope to do same."
"I have to only focus, work hard and be confident. We would see what happens next."
Ghana, in between their camping period will play the Bafana Bafana and local club side, Platinum Stars in South Africa before departing for their base in Franceville, Gabon.
Ghana's first 2012 African Nations Cup game in Group D will be against newcomers, Botswana on Tuesday January 24.
The side will follow up their opener with fixtures against West African rivals, Mali four days later and Guinea on February 1. Both games will be played at the same venue.
The three-week event will start on January 21 and end on February 12, 2012.
