Asante Kotoko are back to winning ways in the First Capital Plus Premier League as the won the regional derby 4-1 against AshantiGold on Sunday.
Seidu Bancey scored a brace for the champions as he struck both goals in the second half at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Richard Mpong put Kotoko in front after 12 minutes but the their lead was cut when Emmanuel Osei equalised for the Miners in the 34th minute.
Michael Akuffu made it 2-1 for Kotoko after the break, scoring from a freekick before Bancey scored twice with one of his goals coming from the spot.
The first half finished one-goal apiece but the Reds, who lost in midweek to city-rivals, King Faisal came back strongly and deservedly beat the Miners to collect all three points.
The win preserves the Porcupine Warriors' 12-point at the summit with ten more matches to end the season though their rivals, Hearts of Oak, who are in second have a game in hand.
AshantiGold have now gone six games without a win as they loss threatens their top-four hopes, having slipped to fifth.
