Berry Ladies beat Soccer Intellectuals; Hasaacas Ladies sink Jonina Ladies in Accra – Southern Zone results

Two first half goals were all that visitors Berry Ladies needed to clinch victory over Soccer Intellectuals in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. Jennifer Adjei Mensah's 88th minute goal was not enough to redeem her side Soccer Intellectuals from the claws of defeat following Jacqueline Amponsah Ampomaa and Helen Kutsanedzi’s first half goals.

Berry Ladies took a well-deserved lead 4 minutes from kick off through Jacqueline Amponsah before Helen Kutsanedzi tapped home beautifully from a cross just a minute to end the first half of the game.

The host came into the second half like wounded lions hoping to devour their opponents but their performance fell short despite having a lion’s share of possession and creating some decent chances dictated the pace of the game and creating chances.

Berry came under incessant attack in the last 15 minutes of the game but were resolute in protecting their lead as they defended gallantly to keep hold of their 2-0 lead. Jennifer Adjei Mensah managed to weave her way through to fetch a consolation for Soccer Intellectuals but her strike wasn’t enough to win a point for a her side as Berry Ladies went away with the points.

In the Capital, Jonina Ladies lost 2-0 to record holders Hasaacas Ladies at the Antie Aku Park. Hasaacas Ladies needed the points badly to end their winless run winless after going rwo games without a win. The Doo Ladies took the lead in the 43rd minute following a sensational strike from Abiba Issah. The home team had many chances to equalize but could not make good use of the chances created after hitting the post twice before the break.

Makarama Abdulai scored the second goal for Hasaacas Ladies in the 46th minute to put the game to bed.

Also in the Zone, relegation threatened Essiam Socrates failed to make it count as they lost 2-0 to Police Ladies. Jamila Abdul Rahman scored the opening goal for Police Ladies in the 7th minute after connecting a fantastic ball from the left flank.

Essiam Socrates fought harder in the second half but could not put the ball at the back of the net as substitute Sophia Mabena Agyaakwa increased the tally for Police Ladies in the 73rd through a well taken free kick.

Police Ladies are third on the League table with 25 points whiles Essiam Socrates wallow in the bottom two with 15 points after 16 rounds of matches.
