Ghana's Under-20 football team, the Black Satellites, secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Niger in their second Group A match at the 2024 WAFU Zone B AFCON Championship on Sunday, October 20.

The win, courtesy of Aziz Musibau's second-half brace, takes Ghana's points haul to four points after two games, breathing new life into the Satellites' hopes of qualifying for next year's U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The match began with both teams creating a number of scoring opportunities, but neither could break the deadlock in the first half. The stalemate continued until the 63rd minute when Musibau struck with a long-range goal, giving Ghana the lead.

Ten minutes later, Musibau sealed the win with his second goal of the day, when he latched on to a well placed pass from Jerry Afriyie and expertly converted. Niger's attempts to mount a comeback were thwarted by Ghana's composed defense, ensuring a clean sheet and maximum points.

Ghana now enters the final group match against tournament hosts, Togo, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, with high hopes of sealing qualification to the next stage of the competition.

Togo and Benin are tied in second place in Group A with two points apiece, while Niger are bottom on a point.

On Wednesday, final Group A matches will be played – Ghana tackle Togo, while Benin and Niger will do battle for qualification to the semifinal of the qualifying series.
