The Black Starlets have been drawn into Group A alongside hosts Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tournament in the WAFU Zone B.
The tournament, which doubles as the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, will serve as the regional qualifying competition for the 2027 U-17 AFCON. The participating nations will battle for the opportunity to represent the zone at the continental showpiece.
Kassim Ocansey Mingle’s charges face a challenging group that brings together four West African neighbours with a strong tradition of youth football. The Black Starlets will have to navigate their way past Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo in the group phase, with every match expected to carry significant importance in the race for qualification.
Burkina Faso have consistently been a competitive force in youth football, while Benin and Togo will also be aiming to make a strong impression and secure progress to the latter stages of the competition.
The Black Starlets will be targeting a strong campaign as they seek to reclaim their place among Africa’s elite youth teams.
The tournament will kickoff on 10th October, 2026 in Ouagadougou.
