Competition : 2010 CAN/World Cup qualifiers
Teams: Ghana v Mali
Match Venue: Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi - Ghana
Date: November, 15 2009
Milovan Rajevac says he will continue to give opportunities to the best young Ghana talents but hopes they grab their chances when thrown into the senior team, the Black Stars.
Ahead of Sunday’s final 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier against Mali at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana’s squad includes seven members of the Fifa Under-20 World Cup winning team.
Up-and-coming youngsters Samuel Inkoom, Andre Ayew, Dominic Adiyiah - who picked both the top scorer award and best player honours at the U-20 World Cup -, Agyemang Badu, Daniel Addo and goalkeeper Daniel Adjei all earned call ups into the Black Stars.
Also on hand are Rahim Ayew and Lee Addy. Both are yet to establish themselves in the senior side after playing major roles in the local Black Stars side.
With a Ghana team packed with some established senior players, Rajevac has underlined that age will not be a factor, even if a player has not yet broken into the Black Stars team.
“Like every time, it’s important to see the current form of the players. I have to see the positions and how they fare in those areas.
“It’s a great opportunity to have these players all available and try out some options.
“They (youngsters) will benefit a lot from the senior players. The experience of training alongside their seniors and taking on new tactics would improve them,” the Ghana coach told www.ghanafa.org.
Rajevac is keen to get the best out of every member and insists that the game against Mali is not to experiment.
“Despite the new boys coming in, results are always important. We need to get a good result out of this game and build upon that for future assignments.”
The Serbian manager expects to some of his youngsters to get some minutes at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“Yeah, some can have some opportunities. But it’s too early to say who could start in any game until all the conditions are right. Things can change so fast in football. Before a game, changes can been made based on certain situations,” he said.
