Getting a place on Ghana's U-20 women's team roster is Candice Osei-Agyemang's top priority ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan later in August.
The University of Arizona player is spending most of her summer days in training to get her ready when the Black Princesses get their preparations underway this month.
For Candice, her workouts will put her in a good stead when coach Robert Sackey gets his team together.
"To earn a spot on the roster with the Ghana U20 team would mean so much," Osei-Agyemang said.
"It means a lot of years of hard work paying off and a progression since I also played in the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand. I will be given an opportunity to play at a higher level, and I would get to represent a part of my heritage through sports."
And she praises her trainers and coaches who have prepared her mentally and physically for her tryouts for a position in the Black Princesses.
"During this past year of playing at the University of Arizona," Osei-Agyemang said.
"My coaches and trainers have really prepared me for such an opportunity. Within our various workouts, I have learned to always strive for more, to go above and beyond what I consider to be enough."
The Black Princesses have been drawn against the U.S, China PR and reigning champions Germany in the group stage of this year's World Cup in Japan.
Ghana's opening game in Group D with the U.S will come off in Hiroshima on 20th August, a day after the 21-day tournament commences.
The Black Princesses will conclude the group stage fixtures against China PR in Saitama on 27th August.
Ghana made their World Cup debut in the Germany 2010 finals.
