‘Catch Them Young’ Referees Present Medals to Their Schools After African Schools Football Championship Success

Two rising stars from the "Catch Them Young" Refereeing Policy, Angelious Akurugu Adongo and Nazifah Dauchebile Jenenubah, have proudly presented their medals from the African Schools Football Championship to their respective schools.

Angelious, a product of Navrongo Senior High School in the Upper East Region, and Nazifah, a Junior High School pupil from Ancilla International School in Wa, Upper West Region, played crucial roles in the championship, showcasing Ghana’s talent on the international stage.

Angelious officiated the final match between Ivory Coast and Benin, earning widespread praise for his exceptional performance. His compatriot, Nazifah, served as the fourth official in the same game, adding to the duo's accomplishments.

Angelious, already listed among the GFA’s first-ever professional referees, has been making remarkable strides in his career. He has been consistently performing at a high level in MTN FA Cup matches and Division One League (DOL) games. Notably, he was the center referee during the DOL Super Cup final between Vision FC and Okwawu United in August this year.

Their success is a testament to the GFA’s efforts to nurture young referees through the "Catch Them Young" Refereeing Policy which aims to identify and develop officiating talent at a grassroots level.

Presenting their medals to their schools was a proud moment for both referees and their institutions, as it underscores the potential of Ghanaian youth in contributing significantly to football both locally and internationally.

The achievements of Angelious and Nazifah are an inspiration to young aspiring referees across the country, reinforcing the message that with dedication and the right support, success is achievable at all levels.
