AshantiGold's seven-match winning run came to a surprising end on Thursday after Berekum Chelsea held them to a 1-1 draw in the Glo Premier League.
Alex Asamoah put the Miners in front when he scored in the 24th minute at the Len Clay Stadium but Joseph Ato-Bissah on the stroke on halftime equalised for the champions.
The Miners are now 10 points adrift leaders Asante Kotoko and are now joint-second with Hearts of Oak though the Phobians are ahead of them via the head-to-head rule.
Chelsea have moved fourth and 13 points off the top with seven matches remaining in the top-flight league.
