Accra Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways in Obuasi with a Cosmos Dauda brace handing the Phobians a well-deserved vicory against Ashantigold.
The in-form Dauda scored a quick second-hald brace to give Hearts the much-needed confidence-boosting win ahead of their 10th week clash with rivals Asante Kotoko in Accra.
After a drab first half, Hearts returned from the break with verve and Dauda put the Phobians in front. He added the second three minutes later to send both the Hearts bench and their fans wild.
Ashantigold rallied and took control of the game midway in the first half but the Phobians remained resolute in defence.
Awudu Nafiu, however found a way in the 73rd when he fired in a low drive to beat goalkeeper Soulama. His goal brought Ashantigold back into the game in what turned out to be a tensed ending for the Phobians.
But the Phobians once again showed great strength in the second half, holding on tightly to register their first win in four games.
Apart from being a confidence-booster ahead of next week’s super clash with Asante Kotoko, the win ensured Hearts are stil on the heels of leaders, Wa All Stars who snatched a late win at home against Inter Allies.
