An Accra High Court on Friday awarded damages against the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after the Court upheld the Ghana Football Association's suit against the investigative agency.
The judge of the Human Rights Court, Peter Derry awarded GHS 50,000 in damages against the State investigative agency in favour of the Ghana Football Association.
Counsel for the FA, Thadeus Sory says he is satisfied with the verdict by the court after EOCO last year raided the sport body's offices.
“There are few points that we would have wanted the court to make pronouncements on in our favour which we would not want to discuss. But once the court has made pronouncements, they should be guided by those pronouncement,” Sory said.
The headquarters of the GFA on December 7, 2010 was raided by plain-clothed officers from the country's Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and removed nine computers and took away documents.
The action halted all football related activities in the country as the FA's offices was closed indefinitely.
