Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor attended a Study Tour on Strengthening Multilateral Cooperation to Protect Major Sporting Events including football in Rome, Italy from 11 to 16 January, 2024.
The tour was organised by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the Italian Department of Public Security (DPS), and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN.
The study tour was hosted by the Italian Police High Academy, with the objective to share current methodological and techniques in the field of major sporting events including football and promote the exchange of knowledge and good practices to protect vulnerable targets on major sporting events.
DCOP Donkor and other selected sports enforcement officials convened met with security experts from INTERPOL and sports Associations to enhance institutional and multilateral cooperation.
She is expected to share the knowledge acquired from the study tour with her follow members of the Safety and Security Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
