Dr Dickson Bandoh speaks on Concussion and safe return to competition

The Ghana Sports Medics Association, in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association, is organizing a Sports Medics webinar on July 28, 2024, at 19:00 GMT.

This webinar will discuss the topic "Concussion in Sports: Ensuring Safe Return to Competition."

Concussion, which is sometimes referred to as Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI), is a brain injury caused by trauma to the head. This conversation on Concussion is important to the football community and is the reason why the Ghana Football Association is inviting all National team Medics and Medics in the Ghana Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, Regional Football Associations, Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Referees and all the lower leagues clubs to attend this all important webinar.

Sports Medical colleagues in Nigeria, Togo, Cameroon, Morocco, Cote D'ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia,Cape Verde,Zimbabwe and Tanzania will also join the webinar to discuss this important topic.

The resource person, Dr. Dickson Kwadwo Bandoh, is a neurosurgeon committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation of clinicians.

Over the course of his practice as a neurosurgeon, he has sought to improve on existing healthcare systems and has carried out these goals through relevant clinical research and continuous professional and personal development. He is passionate about disseminating knowledge on the management of brain and spine trauma and has facilitated a number of programs in that regard. He is also committed to working with relevant stakeholders in developing policy guidelines for the management of brain and spine trauma.

Dr. Dickson Kwadwo Bandoh is a Fellow Neurosurgeon of the West African College of Surgeons, a member of the Ghana Academy of Neurologic Surgeons and works at the Neurosurgery Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
