Elmina Sharks midfielder Jay Asamoah Kola will serve a one-year ban suspension after being found guilty of misconduct following 1-0 defeat at home to Swedru All Black United FC on February 16, 2025.

A statement from The FA read: Elmina Sharks player Jay Asamoah Kola has been handed a one-year ban by the Disciplinary Committee for misconduct during their Division One League match against Swedru All Black United FC on February 16, 2025.

"The player was found guilty of unsporting behaviour after assaulting a referee during the game."

The midfielder has also been warned that any further misconduct will attract severe sanctions.

The incident, which led to this disciplinary action, occurred during a league match at the Nduom Sports Stadium, where Kola reportedly acted aggressively towards the match official, violating GFA's strict code of conduct.

The ban means Kola will be ineligible to participate in any football-related activities, including league matches, for the next year
