Ghana midfielder Michael Essien says he would join up with the rest of his colleagues in Tamale once he is through with a legal matter.
The Black Stars player arrived in Accra on Monday but has had to make a court appearance in a case in which his ex-girlfriend is seeking to clarify the status of their relationship in a divorce compensation claim.
The case will be heard at an Accra High Court on Wednesday after which the player’s next move could be determined.
“I am a really strong person. It has been going on for a year or two now and everyday I still try to put it behind me, go on the pitch and do my best. It won’t have any effect but I have got two or three days in court so I want to deal with it,” he said.
"I have to go and sort everything out and once I'm done I will go and join the team in Tamale," he added.
"I want to be in camp with my team mates but as I said I need to sort my court case out before I can join the team and the fans should not worry because am here for Ghana and I will do everything possible to join the team."
Essien is one of the called up players by Milovan Rajevac for the 2010 World Cup double-header this month.
Ghana faces two tough away matches in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign with the Black Stars paired against Mali on June 7 and a game with Sudan, thirteen days later.
The Black Stars sit at the summit of the Group D standings after securing an opening day win in the qualifying campaign.
