Ghana has displayed an imperious away form in the 2010 joint Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying, with two of her three wins coming from outside the shores of the country.
The Black Stars after opening their campaign at home with a 1-0 victory against Benin went on to beat Mali 2-0 in Bamako and recorded the same scoreline over Sudan in Khartoum.
Such impressive away results have helped Ghana maintain her place at the summit in Group D with 9 maximum points from three matches.
Ahead of Sunday's game at home with Sudan, Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien is seeking a replica of Ghana's away performances.
The midfielder says the Black Stars must show the same form that saw them pick up two straight away wins in front of an expectant home crowd.
“We must win against Sudan because to qualify for the World cup you must be strong at home and fight away from home. So far we have been strong both home and away and we must continue the rich vein of form,” Essien said on his website.
Despite Sudan sitting bottom in Group D with a point, they are expected to be up for the challenge and Essien is promising a fighting display from the Black Stars for the match at the Ohene Djan Stadium.
“Ghanaians expect us to win every game and that’s what the whole team will be fighting for on Sunday. Hopefully we will be good enough for all three points,” he said.
