Faith Ladies back to winning ways, Soccer Intellectuals hold Hasaacas Ladies

Sea Lions suffered a 2-0 loss to Police Ladies on Matchday 15 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. The Elmina based side who are bottom of the table in the Southern Zone, were less impressive right from the get go and allowed the visitors to dominate play.

Police Ladies were awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute after the ball hit the arm of Sea Lions captain Dorcas Kumiwa Addei .Deborah Afriyie stepped forward and scored to give Police Ladies the lead. Police Ladies continued their dominance in the second half and Grace Animah doubled the advantage with a brilliant finish eleven minutes after the break.

Sea Lions lifted the performance and created a few chances but couldn't find a way through the thick defense of the away team as the game ended 2-0 in favour of Police Ladies.

Sea Lions are rooted at the bottom of the league table with 7 points after 15 rounds of matches in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

Elsewhere - Jonina Ladies secured a vital away point in their game against fellow strugglers Essiam Socrates. Zulfawu Ibrahim broke the deadlock in the 16th minute but the host failed to hold on to the lead as Agnes Azasi unleashed a powerful drive which beat goalkeeper Vivian Donkor for the equalizer in the 37th minute.

Still in the Zone, Dansoman based Faith Ladies returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Ladystrikers at the Carl Reindorf Park.

The highly anticipated match was filled with excitement as both teams pushed very hard for a win. The end-to-end action saw both teams digging deep for a three points but the first half failed to produce a goal.

Faith Ladies came back stronger in the second half as Sandra Donkor scored the opening goal in the 52nd minute. Esther Asamoah Yiadom doubled the lead in the 60th minute before Zanira Abdul Razak scored an absolute beauty to make it 3-0 in the 78th minute. Ladystrikers managed to score a consolation goal in the 88th minute as the game ended 3:1 in Dansoman.

Faith Ladies are second on the Southern Zone table with 27 – 5 points behind leaders Hasaacas Ladies who are on 32 points.
