Faith Ladies down Soccer Intellectuals, Hasaacas Ladies suffer first defeat in Southern Zone
Sandra Donkor scored in the 9th minute to ensure that Faith Ladies recorded the double over Soccer Intellectuals in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. Sandra fired home a thunderbolt from the edge of the box to beat Grace Andoh for the only goal of the game. The visitors dominated play and could have added to the tally but for profligacy in front of goal as the game ended 1-0 at Ajuamko. The win keeps Faith Ladies in second place while Soccer Intellectuals continue to battle for survival.
Elsewhere in Cape Coast, Ladystrikers handed Hasaacas Ladies their first defeat of the season after beating them 2-1 at the Robert Mensah Stadium. The home side announced their winning desires immediately after the blast of the whistle but Mariam Olawumi Abdulkadir shot wide in the 4th minute. The efforts continued until the Nigerian, won a penalty for her side after she was brought down in the box.
Ladystrikers centre back Lucy Kwofie stepped up and converted it nicely to put her side in the lead in the 13th minute. Mukarama Abdulai nearly leveled matters for Hasaacas Ladies in the 23rd minute but her effort missed the goal by inches. The former FIFA U-17 World Cup golden boot winner later made amends with a neat finish to make it 2-1.
Ladystrikers added to the tally inside 43 minutes to put the game beyond the visitors. Back from recess, the host continued to press for more goals but Hasaacas Ladies defended gallantly to keep them at bay as the game ended 2-0 in favor of LadyStrikers.
Meanwhile, Berry Ladies suffered yet another home defeat as they were crashed 2-0 by Essiam Socrates at the Madina AstroTurf.
Frederica Kai Addico and Abigail Armoh scored two second half goals to give Essiam Socrates all the spoils on the road. Frederica opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before substitute Abigail Armoh added the second goal in the 76th minute.
