Ghana’s win over South Korea was met with a massive eruption of celebrations from soccer fans on social media and across the country.
The Black Stars emerged as 2-3 winners of the Group H second round tie after Kudus Mohammed’s 68th minute goal sealed the win for Coach Otto Addo’s side.
The win ended Black Stars’ winless ran at the World Stage with Ghana’s last win coming against USA in the Round of 16 stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
President Nana Addo Dankwa AKufo-Addo took to his Twitter handle to express his delight at the win over South Korea and urged them to go all out in the final group game against Uruguay.

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia also expressed the nation’s appreciation to the Black Stars for their hard work and dedication.

The nation’s premier newspaper, Daily Graphic had “Kudos to Kudus as Ghana upset South Korea, Uruguay next” as its headline on Tuesday.
Ghanaian Times also had: “Stars restore hope after beating South Korea…Pres lauds team for exploits”. The Black Stars are poised to seal through to the Round of 16 after beating Uruguay in Friday’s final group game which has been described by many as a “grudge match”.
