The FIFA Member Association (MA) Elite Refereeing Course held in Ghana has successfully concluded at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, after six days of intensive training and assessment.
A total of 37 match officials, comprising referees and assistant referees from across the country, participated in the elite development programme aimed at enhancing officiating standards and preparing officials for the demands of top-level football.
The course, organized by FIFA, formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of Ghana's elite referees and align their performance with international best practices.
Throughout the programme, participants underwent rigorous technical and physical training sessions designed to improve decision-making, match management, positioning, teamwork, communication, and overall understanding of the Laws of the Game. The officials were also taken through practical exercises, video analysis sessions, fitness assessments, and discussions on modern refereeing trends.
The course was led by FIFA Technical Instructor Essameldin Abdelfattah Hassan Abdelhamid from Egypt and FIFA Fitness Instructor Bento Tomas Navesse from Mozambique, who shared their extensive knowledge and experience with the participants. The instructors commended the match officials for their commitment, discipline, and enthusiasm throughout the programme.
Participants expressed appreciation to FIFA and the GFA for the opportunity, describing the course as a valuable learning experience that has enhanced their technical knowledge and physical preparedness for future assignments.
The successful completion of the FIFA MA Elite Refereeing Course marks another important step in the GFA's broader strategy to improve refereeing standards and create a strong pipeline of elite match officials capable of representing Ghana at CAF and FIFA competitions.
