FIFA TDS: Matchday One: Upper West Region edge Upper East in tight opener, late strike earns Elite Academy Bolga win
In the first match on Pitch One, Eastern Region suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Elite Academy Bolga. The decisive moment came through Asankoma Genevieve, whose solitary goal separated the sides in a closely contested battle. Despite efforts from Eastern Region to find an equalizer, Elite Academy Bolga’s defense held firm to secure all three points at the start of the 2026 Elite U15 Matchday one.
Over on Pitch Two, Upper West Region produced a 2-0 victory over Upper East Region. Adamu Ayanata opened the scoring before Nammei Luki Nasha added a second to double their side’s advantage. Upper East struggled to break down a resolute Upper West defense, leaving the latter to celebrate a well-earned clean sheet and a commanding start to the tournament.
The second game on Pitch One saw Volta Region secure a 2-1 win against Northern Region. Volta’s Hlomavor Mary broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, and not long after, Deku Sedinam added a second goal for her side. Northern Region responded through Haruna Rahama, who pulled one back, but Volta’s defense stood tall in the closing stages to preserve the victory.
The third game of the day turned into a one-sided affair as Brong Ahafo thrashed Central Region 4-0. Christabel Boahen struck just two minutes into the match and added another just before half-time to put her side in firm control. After the break, Racheal Akanye completed the rout with two more goals, leaving Central Region with no reply in a dominant attacking display.
In the last game of the day, Western Region claimed victory over Ashanti Region thanks to a strong start. Sheila Owusu gave Western Region the lead in the 10th minute, and Freda Moono converted a penalty in the 46th minute to double the advantage. Ashanti Region pushed for a way back but could not breach the Western defence, as Western Region held on for a composed 2-0 win.
