The Finance Committee of the Ghana Football Association had its pre-congress meeting at the Ghana Football Association Secretariat in Accra on Friday, August 9, 2024. The meeting primarily considered the annual rolling budget that would be discussed and approved at 30th ordinary session of congress on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram.
The Chief Finance officer of the Ghana Football Association presented the budget to the Mark Addo led committee.
The Budget was structured around key objectives such as enhancing financial stability and healthy cash flows for the association, the upgrade of infrastructure at the Ghanaman Soccer Center for Excellence at Prampram, ensuring the highest levels of performances for all national teams, ensuring massive improvement in the domestic leagues and to promote fair play and accessibility at the grassroots level.
“The football Association in the next years ahead will consolidate the gains it has made in terms of financial stability, healthy cash flows and a strong balance sheet to back its operations” the Chairman of the committee, Mark Addo remarked. This he said will ultimately lead to a more efficient football association that will be revered globally.
The Chief Finance Officer of the Football Association, Collins K. Dei, in his presentation said, “the finance department of the Football Association will continue to pursue key segments of the Finance role i.e., optimum utilisation of liquid assets, efficient risk management, judicious monitoring of receivables and improvements in internal processes and reporting” he added.
The committee also discussed the FIFA Central Review (Audit) report on the Ghana Football Association for the year ended 2023. The committee noted that the excellent ratings that Ghana achieved are a mark of financial maturity and transparency.
This year’s congress is scheduled to take place on the 26th and 27th of August 2024 at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence (GSCE), Prampram after Kumasi hosted that of the prior year, 2023.
The Finance Committee is chaired by Vice President Mark Addo. Other members of the Committee who attended the meeting included Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, Samuel Brew-Butler, Samuel Williams and Alhaji Abu-Hassan with Collins Dei who serves as Secretary to the committee.
