Football family pay final respect to late Dr. Joe Ofori Atta

The Football Family was well represented at the final funeral rites of the late Black Stars Team Doctor Joe Ofori-Atta. The funeral ceremony took place on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Akim Tafo in the Eastern Region. 

General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo led the delegation. Former Chief Justice and FIFA Disciplinary Committee Vice Chairman, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah was also present to pay his tribute to the great medical hero of sports. 

Also present were Executive Council member Eugene Nobel Noel, Eastern Region FA Chairman Linford Asamoah Boadu, GHALCA Executives Samuel Oduro Nyarko and George Ofosuhene Peprah. The football delegation were well received by the children and family of the late Joe Ofori Atta. 

The late Ofori Atta was a sports Doctor who worked with the National Sports Council (Authority) for over two decades. He was the head of the Stadium Clinic in Accra and also worked with the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana League Clubs Association.

The late Dr. Ofori-Atta was Black Stars Team Doctor in 1982 when Ghana won the Africa Cup of Nations in Libya. He had stints with the Black Starlets from 1986 – 1992 before becoming a Management Committee Member of the Black Satellites in 1999.

He was 1st Vice Chairman of the Organization of Ghana League Clubs Association (OGLA) now GHALCA and also served on the Executive Council and Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

The Thanksgiving and final funeral rites will take place at ATI HEMAA FIE on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
