The German International School, in partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), organized a one-day sporting event called Faces of Football. The event featured the GFA's Football4Girls initiative.

The event saw three schools, the German International School, Universal Wonderful Street Academy from Jamestown and De Youngster’s International school take part in football activities, coaching sessions, mentoring and a mini football tournament.

Faces of Football is an initiative and a project led by Petra Landers, a former player for the German Female National team. The goal is to inspire and empower girls between the ages of 7 -12 years to play football with the aim of equality, fairness for every girl child to get the opportunity and access to play football without any hindrance.

The program focuses on training the girl child in football to become a better player, they also train Women who aspire to be coaches.

The Women's Football Development at the Technical Directorate saw the need to align with the Faces of Football project to take the invited schools through the GFA Women's Football Strategy: Grassroot Football (Football for girls) project, since it shares common objectives of inspiring and empowering every Ghanaian girl child to Play football.

Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong, the Women's Football Development Manager, took guests and students through our Women's Football Strategy, while Elizabeth Boateng a player at the Berry Ladies FC shared with the kids what inspired her to play football.

She advised the kids to take their books seriously, be disciplined and work hard to achieve their dreams of becoming great players.

Former German International defender, Petra Landers also added that, every girl and doesn’t matter what age should have the right to play football. This basically stems from lack of self confidence. She also encouraged more should be done to get the young girls on the field.

The GFA will continue to scout, train and develop talents at the grass-root level through the Women’s Football Strategy implementation.
