GFA Elite Academy Teams to showcase skills to FIFA Talent Development Scheme Program Participants
The Ghana Football Association Elite Academy Boys and Girls Teams will engage in two exhibition games today, June 19, 2024, in Accra, as part of activities of the ongoing FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) Knowledge Exchange Programme being held in Ghana.
The Boys Under-15 team will take on Attram de Visser while the Girls will battle the Greater Accra Under-15 Regional team at the Union Park, University of Ghana.
Kickoff is at 16:00GMT (4pm local time).
The Academy teams, based in Winkogo in the Upper East Region of Ghana, will be playing their first competitive games in Accra since the establishment of the groundbreaking GFA Elite Academy.
FIFA officials and representatives from 17 African Member Associations (MAs) of FIFA, who are participating in the five-day workshop in Ghana, will observe, at first hand, the level and quality of players of the GFA's Elite Academy when they witness the two friendly matches on Wednesday June 19, 2024.
The exhibition matches form part of processes designed to provide elite young players with the competitive environment needed for growth and excellence.
The FIFA TDS aims to bridge gaps in talent identification and development, ensuring that young players around the world get the chance to succeed.
The exhibition matches also offer platforms for both boys and girls to enhance their skills and technical knowhow and prepare them for future tournaments both locally and internationally.
Under the umbrella of the TDS, the GFA Elite Academy project also aims to accelerate elite youth player development by guiding, advising and mentoring the talents dotted and scattered across the country.
