The Ghana football and the Ghana Football Association have been in mourning following the passing on Monday of Nana Ntiri Dankyi, a former Executive Committee member and vice-chairman of the Division One League Board.

Nana Ntiri Dankyi, 74, was a member of the first Ex.Co of the GFA and served between 2006-2011, playing a crucial role in the development of the game at all levels.

“It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of former Executive Committee member Nana Ntiri Dankyi, whom we had the privilege of knowing personally and working with on several occasions at meetings and other GFA programmes,” said GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi on Tuesday after hearing of Ntiri Dankyi's passing.

“On behalf of the GFA and my own, I offer my most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family and friends.”

After a five-year service on the GFA's Ex.Co, Nana Ntiri Dankyi decided not to seek re-election as he bid farewell stating that: “It is time to bid farewell. I have done my bit; others must take over and continue.”

He also oversaw key reforms in the game, serving in various roles which included being the Vice-chairman of the Division One League Board from 2006 till date.

An ever-present figure in the development of the game and at all seminars and functions, he served on the Match Review Panel and was a member of the Board of Directors of the GFA's technical centre in Prampram.

He was as a member of the Ghana League Clubs Association five-member Election Committee in 2011.
