GFA Participates in Green Ghana Day

The Ghana Football Association, through the GFA Foundation, will participate in this year’s Green Ghana Day scheduled for 7th June, 2024.

Stakeholders within the Ghana Football ecosystem including GFA Staff, Sponsors, Partners, Premier League, Division One League Clubs, Women's Premier and Division One League clubs, Supporters and the 10 Regional Football Associations (RFAs) as well as clubs under their jurisdictions, will participate in the Green Ghana Day in their respective regions.

The Football Association’s first ever participation in this national environmental conservation exercise is being spearheaded by the GFA Foundation which is the social investment and sustainability management structure for the Football Association.

In a response to a GFA letter, officials of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, at a meeting, expressed their gratitude and welcomed the Football Association’s participation in this year’s edition. They promised the cooperation of their Regional Managers for the exercise and went ahead to provide their contact details for the acquisition of seedlings for the exercise.

In Accra, staff of the GFA, the Greater Accra Regional Football Association and some football clubs will undertake a tree planting exercise at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram and also at the commemorative tree planting exercise at Burma Camp.

Similarly, staff of the Upper East Regional Football Association and football clubs in the Upper East Region will also embark on a tree planting exercise at the Kurt E.S. Okraku Technical Centre,Winkogo near Bolgatanga.

The Green Ghana Day is in line with the GFA’s sustainability policy of ensuring that our natural environment and resources are protected and use responsibly to support the life of both current and future generations.

This year’s edition of the Green Ghana project is under the theme, “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow” and is targeting to plant 10 million tree seedlings across the country.
