A road safety campaign geared towards reducing road accidents and fatalities during this year’s Easter Festivities has been initiated by the Ghana Football Association in partnership with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA).
The campaign aims to leverage the wide reach of the GFA’s media platforms to disseminate crucial road safety messages, tips, and educational flyers throughout the festive period.
Acting Director-General of the NRSA, Abraham Amaliba, emphasized the importance of vigilance on the roads during the holiday season.
“We urge all drivers to remain alert, avoid distractions, and above all, refrain from drinking and driving,” he cautioned. He also advised pedestrians to be extra cautious when crossing roads and to make proper use of sidewalks.
General Secretary of the Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo. reiterated the Association’s dedication to social responsibility.
“The GFA is committed to using its platforms to promote road safety education and public awareness. We believe this partnership will contribute significantly to reducing road traffic incidents during this period." he said.
The campaign will run throughout the Easter season, targeting both drivers and pedestrians with safety advice to ensure a safe celebration for all.
