Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila left the Black Stars camp in Abu Dhabi on Monday to rejoin his club Asante Kotoko.

The centre-back was part of the preliminary 26-man squad named by coach Kwesi Appiah for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

But he was not part of the final 23-man squad named by the coach for the tournament in South Africa.

Despite being left out of the final squad, Sumaila stayed with the team and trained diligently.

With the Black Stars set to leave the UAE on Wednesday for South Africa, Sumaila has now been allowed to join his club in Ghana.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has hailed Sumaila's commitment to the national team insisting he will continue to monitor the defender for future assignments with the Black Stars.
