Vice President Mark Addo has charged the Black Meteors to put in their best efforts and achieve their targets at the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The National U-23 team will participate in this year’s edition of the tournament with a target of sealing a ticket to the 2024 Olympics Games.

Speaking to the team ahead of departure from Accra, Vice President Mark Addo expressed confidence that the team has what it takes to achieve their targets and even lift the ultimate.

“I want to congratulate this team for what you have accomplished so far.

“If you want your names written in history this is the time. Always have the mentality that we are not going to Morocco to participate. You must go there and add your names to history.”

“The whole country will be supporting you and will be yearning for something special from you”, he added.

Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth & Sports William Katey also expressed confidence in the team and urged them to crown their efforts with a successful tournament.

“You must go with the believe that you are the best in the tournament.”

“You are carrying the hearts for 30 million Ghanaians with you so this is the moment to crown your efforts”.

“On behalf of the minister and the people of Ghana we wish you well and we hope that on the final day we will all converge in Morocco to cheer you on to victory, he reiterated.

Captain of the side Daniel Afriyie Barnieh thanked the Vice President and the Chief Director for their inspiring words.

“In this team we don’t talk much. We do all our talking on the pitch and we are confident that we will make our selves and the nation proud”, Barnieh said.

The Black Meteors will pitch camp in Cairo, Egypt for a pre-tournament training tour before emplaning to Morocco for the tournament which will commence on June 24.
