Ghana legend Abdul "Golden Boy" Razak to attend WAFU B General Assembly

Ghana legend Abdul Karim 'Golden Boy" Razak will attend the WAFU B General Assembly, to be held in Niamey, Niger, on November 22, 2024, as a Special Guest of the sub-regional body.

The 1978 African Footballer of the Year will join WAFU B President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, during the General Assembly of the sub-regional bloc.

The prominent Ghanaian legend will join a host of other esteemed former African stars at the gathering of WAFU B Member Associations as they deliberate on the progressive development of football in the region.

Abdul 'Golden Boy' Razak, played for several clubs in the 1970s and 1980s, notably Ghanaian giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the New York Cosmos in the defunct North American Soccer League (NASL).

Razak also played for clubs in the UAE, Egypt and Ivory Coast, and was ranked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2007 as one of the Confederation's 30 best footballers of the previous 50 years.

The Ghana legend who was also voted as the Africa Footballer of the Year in 1978 has coached clubs in Mali, Sudan, Qatar and many clubs in North Africa.

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, will address the General Assembly of the sub-regional bloc.

The President is expected to outline his vision for WAFU B's football future and reaffirm his commitment to developing football in the sub-region, increase competitiveness and build on the successful collaboration of all seven Member Associations (MAs).

He is also expected to highlight his shared vision of inclusivity, creativity, innovation and steadfast commitment to excellence during the General Assembly in Niamey.

The WAFU B President is also expected to touch on a wide range of issues including but not limited to infrastructure, competition reform, financial sustainability, youth development and women's football amongst others.

Under Simeon-Okraku's strong and visionary leadership, WAFU B has seen new competitions introduced as the Ghana FA leader is poised to continue his journey of transforming football in the sub-region.
