Ghana legend "Golden Boy" Abdul Razak receives rousing ovation at WAFU B General Assembly

Ghana legend Abdul Karim 'Golden Boy" Razak received a special recognition at the WAFU B General  Assembly held in Niamey, Niger on Friday November 22, 2024.

The 1978 African Footballer of the Year attended the General Assembly of the sub-regional bloc as a Special Guest following an illustrious career.

The prominent Ghanaian joined other esteemed former African stars at the zonal gathering which featured Presidents and General Secretaries of the seven MAs' and zonal Presidents.

Other legends including Moumouni Dagano (Burkina Faso), Kossi Agassa (Togo), Moussa Maâzou (Niger) received special recognition from WAFU B President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

Abdul 'Golden Boy' Razak, played for several clubs in the 1970s and 1980s, notably Ghanaian giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the New York Cosmos in the defunct North American Soccer League (NASL).

Razak also played for clubs in the UAE, Egypt and Ivory Coast, and was ranked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2007 as one of the Confederation's 30 best footballers of the previous 50 years.

The Ghana legend who was also voted as the Africa Footballer of the Year in 1978 has coached clubs in Mali, Sudan, Qatar and many clubs in North Africa.

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, addressed the General Assembly of the sub-regional bloc on Friday November 22, 2024, detailing widespread reforms, plans and activities for the zone.
