Ghana's male U20 team, the Black Satellites, made official their place in next year's U-20 Africa Cup of Nations despite losing the WAFU B final to Nigeria on Wednesday night.

The Black Satellites, already guaranteed a spot at Africa's flagship youth Championship prior to the final match, put up a spirited second half display but lost 2-1 to Nigeria at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo.

Jerry Afriyie's 75th minute goal was not enough as a first half brace from Kparabo Arieri propelled the Flying Eagles to victory against a gallant Ghanaian side.

The Black Satellites will be making a return to the AFCON Championship next year after winning the title in 2021.

Coach Desmond Ofei and his backroom staff have executed the country's qualification to the continental showpiece with aplomb.

The WAFU B U20 Championship serves as the qualification for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, with only Nigeria and Ghana going through.

This 2025 U20 AFCON will also serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the four semi-finalists will qualify automatically.
